A letter from the Race Director:
Dear racers, spectators and volunteers:
2008 was an interesting race for UC Davis. It was a record year with over 450 registered athletes. We had tremendous support from sponsors with lots of donations and raffle prizes. We also had heavy rain and wind... and even some crashes. Despite all of that, I can’t remember when I had so much fun at a race. I saw many first time triathletes come out and brave the weather, even when every part of their body was saying to stay in bed. CONGRATS! I saw friendly volunteers with huge smiles, despite being the coldest of all the participants. I saw some sexy booty shaking on the pool deck to Kanye West and Sean Kingston. It was definitely a race to remember. For those of you who were unable to make it, I hope you consider us for 2009. As we begin a revolution in collegiate triathlon and collegiate racing, I look forward to what the next year will bring. Aggie Triathlon is committed to continual improvement in our race quality and “fun factor” as well as to offer more support for first time triathletes. I’ve gotten great feedback from everyone and I hope to incorporate all the new and improved ideas for 2009! So let me offer my sincerest thanks to all who were involved. Thanks to the race staff who dealt with no sleep, being ill and mentally exhausted. Thanks to the racers and volunteers for being positive, loud and lots of fun to watch. I wish you the best of luck with your training and hope to see you all next year!
